Who are we?

WRAP is a global environmental action NGO, and our core purpose is to help tackle climate change. We want to protect our planet by transforming our product and food systems to create circular living. We don’t believe that our natural resources should be wasted, everything we use should be re-used and recycled.

If you join us at WRAP – and we think you should – you'll drive important change and help transform our throwaway economy into one where we eliminate waste, circulate resources, and adopt nature-positive, low carbon, and resource-efficient systems.

We want to power circular living in every boardroom and every home, and you can help us achieve this.

The role

As our Senior Specialist for Climate Action/Net Zero, you will lead the development and implementation of a multi-year programme workstream focusing on achieving Net Zero across the UK’s food and drink system. Reporting to the Programme Lead for Climate Action, you will shape the technical strategy for WRAP’s work to accelerate action on reducing GHG emissions.

You will take ownership of specific challenges under the umbrella of tackling GHGs in the food and drink system, this could for example include standardization of GHG measuring, scope 3 supplier engagement and sustainable procurement, reducing GHG emissions on farms, sustainable land management, data driven innovation, sustainable manufacturing or green finance in food supply chains.

You will work closely with other workstream leads on agriculture and consumer choices to ensure holistic net zero solutions are proposed and implemented throughout the food and drink sector value chain. These solutions will help deliver the Courtauld 2030 target of a 50% absolute reduction in GHG emissions associated with food and drink consumed in the UK.

Who are we looking for?

  • Great  understanding of the challenges the food and drink industry is facing relating to GHG emissions.
  • Ability to utilise your professional network to identify and influence  key players and specialists  to drive strategic industry wide solutions achieving net zero.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience of presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences at a senior level.
