Who are we?

WRAP is a global environmental action NGO championing the shift towards a circular economy, fundamentally reshaping how we produce, consume, and manage resources. Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it.

WRAP is driving Circular Living through four key areas: accelerating the circular economy, future-proofing food, preventing problem plastics and transforming textiles. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs and citizens to make it happen.

We have offices in the UK, USA and Australia, and live projects in over 30 countries.

Join us at WRAP and you'll drive important change to make Circular Living the norm.

The role

As the interim Programme Lead for Climate Action you will form part of the rapidly growing Food System Transformation leadership team with specific responsibility to lead our programmes on Water and GHG. You will provide leadership to the specialist teams to support them through a new chapter for the Climate Action Team within Food Systems Transformation. You will be able to draw on our expert bank of consultant support to bring in the required specialist knowledge and networks – so, whilst food. GHG and water experience is very much welcomed, there will be support.

Reporting to the Head of Food Systems Transformation you will work closely with the relevant Strategic Engagement Managers and the Delivery Leads on strategy development and funding pipelines.

In the UK, our food pact, The Courtauld Commitment 2030, has a target that 50% of the UK’s fresh food is sourced from areas with sustainable water management and to deliver a 50% absolute reduction in GHG emissions associated with food and drink consumed in the UK by 2030 (against a 2015 baseline). This role will play a pivotal role in achieving these targets and reducing the impact of food systems around the world.

Core responsibilities for 6 Month FTC:

  • Support the team to develop and deliver impact-focused programme strategy, working closely with colleagues in Programme Delivery and Partnerships, Government, and Business Engagement to ensure WRAP delivers high-quality impact and develops strategy and plans for FY25 and beyond.
  • Support lead and inspire a diverse team of impact-focused experts within the team, ensuring effective delivery of a learning and development programme for the team, and facilitating growth of talent at all levels in the team, during a period of change.
  • Lead team to maintain senior level partnerships with key businesses, government, funders, and stakeholders to meet targets, position WRAP’s work and develop opportunities for business growth in the Climate Action programmes.
  • Attend and represent WRAP and the Food Systems Transformation Team at external meetings, events and workshops as required.

Who are we looking for?

This is a truly exciting role at a time of transition for the team. We’re looking for an individual who can start that can combine the practical Programme Management oversight experience with an appreciation of the food sector and its water /GHG impacts to translate this subject expertise into meaningful, impactful initiatives. We’re looking for a solutions-oriented candidate who will have:

  • Experience of developing and implementing strategies for impact in sustainability.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and evidence of developing your own and other’s capabilities to achieve high-performing, happy teams.
  • Experience of leading programme teams in a multi-stakeholder context, working externally with senior stakeholders and across teams internally to design, develop and implement holistic programmes in line with impact strategy, including working with income generation teams to identify and secure funding.
  • Ability to actively lead internal and external problem solving; work with high personal autonomy; a passion for creating and scaling new ways of working/ business models to enable impact and income growth.
