Who are we?

WRAP is a global environmental action NGO championing the shift towards a circular economy, fundamentally reshaping how we produce, consume, and manage resources. Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it.

WRAP is driving Circular Living through four key areas: accelerating the circular economy, future-proofing food, preventing problem plastics and transforming textiles. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs and citizens to make it happen.

We have offices in the UK, USA and Australia, and live projects in over 30 countries.

Join us at WRAP and you'll drive important change to make Circular Living the norm.

The role

It’s WRAP’s mission to help build a thriving sustainable world and we’re looking for a leader in the sustainability field to spearhead our efforts in the EU region as the Executive Director, WRAP EU. Few roles offer the chance to make such a difference at an organisational and societal level – could this be the challenge you’re looking for?

In this newly created role, the Executive Director WRAP EU will lead and grow the subsidiary operation to ensure it delivers its strategic priorities by building WRAP’s presence and reputation across the EU region. With the recent merger with the International Food Waste Coalition (IFWC), WRAP is looking to expand the impact of our work across the EU region. The ED will bring an extensive background within the field of environment and sustainability and be a well-connected figure within relevant networks. You will have experience of growing a significant operation or organization in the related circular or sustainability space. Your leadership and vision will inspire the team you build as the organization grows to be among the most respected players in global environmental action. Our funding will come from a mix of sources, particularly corporates and government, and you should have a demonstrable track record of success in growing income from these sources. At WRAP, our team is driven by our mission, and you will be a key player in enabling the delivery of our work.

Who are we looking for?

This is an incredibly important appointment in which you’ll join our international leadership team. We’re looking for evidenced success in building and running a sustainability or circular living operation, whether leading the organisation as a whole, or performing a functional leadership role in which you’ll have carried responsibility for income generation and/or sound financial performance. Some of the notable qualities you’ll be able to demonstrate are:

  • Exceptional knowledge of your market, complemented with the ability to create and engage others with an aspirational strategic vision.
  • The ability to operate with an organisation that is effectively in start-up mode, skilled to harness wider organisational resources, whilst also appreciating the short-term operational requirements of the role
  • Excellent connections across the EU, in particular, with key players in the sustainability and environment space. The ideal person will have held a senior role leading sustainability within a major business as well as having the experience of engaging with the European Commission, national governments and major multilaterals.
  • Strong evidence of successful business management– developing and implementing successful strategies, a commercial mindset, income generation, customer retention, product creation, risk management, cost management and KPI monitoring.

If you think you have what it takes but your experience looks different to what is advertised, please still apply. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of your age, race, gender, neurodiversity, ability, beliefs, sexuality, or personal preferences.

We want to help you be your best, so please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustments during the recruitment process.
