Who are we?

WRAP is a global environmental action NGO championing the shift towards a circular economy, fundamentally reshaping how we produce, consume, and manage resources. Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it.

WRAP is driving Circular Living through four key areas: accelerating the circular economy, future-proofing food, preventing problem plastics and transforming textiles. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs and citizens to make it happen.

We have offices in the UK, USA and Australia, and live projects in over 30 countries.

Join us at WRAP and you'll drive important change to make Circular Living the norm.

The role

Whilst it’s WRAP’s mission to look after the resources of the planet, we’re looking for a talented HR Director to look after our very own key resource – our people. WRAP has transformed considerably over the last 5 years, and we are now looking to appoint an exceptional individual who will lead the People agenda during our next phase of international growth. Operating as an influential member of the senior leadership team, you will lead a team of 7 (HR and Internal Communications) to develop and implement the People strategy, continuously looking for ways to positively impact organisational performance and proactively partner board, executive and leadership stakeholders. Notable accountabilities will include:

  • Set the agenda for the organisation's People Strategy, ensuring that it is in line with the immediate needs and future vision of the business, globally
  • Maintain a professional, efficient HR operation, identifying ways to further improve the support provided to the organisation around the globe
  • Work with trustees and company directors across WRAP’s markets, including as a core attendee of the Global Nominations & Remuneration Committee and at other governance forums as relevant
  • Ensure the effective management of employee relations, including acting as the escalation point for complex matters, and partnering with organisational leaders to successfully navigate necessary change and transformation
  • Support the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda bringing subject matter expertise and visible leadership to this area
  • Lead reward strategy, ensuring rewards structures reflects the needs of the business going forward, developing and strategically leading the job architecture, salary benchmarking, managing compensation processes and acting as the senior HR representative at the Group Nominations & Remuneration Committee and other boards/committees as relevant
  • Develop and implement effective talent acquisition, talent management and internal communications strategies to further strengthen our position as an employer of choice

Who are we looking for?

Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer, this is an incredibly important appointment to WRAP. You will be able to demonstrate a successful record of leading a high- performing HR team, preferably encompassing an international remit and with significant expertise in leading positive and transformational change.

Whilst a prior background working in the non-profit sector is advantageous, it is not essential, providing you can display the ability to understand the dynamics and challenges of the sector. More important will be that you bring an aspirational, collaborative and action orientated mindset, with the skill to influence and galvanise stakeholders at all levels. Some of the notable qualities you’ll be able to demonstrate are:

  • Leading a HR team or function – ideally with some experience of non-UK HR and/or of working at an NGO
  • Operational insight and experience leading in the following professional standards areas; organisation design, performance, reward (including Group Nominations & Remuneration Committee), employee engagement, and service delivery.
  • Experience diagnosing organisational challenges, using these to create a relevant and effective range of solutions to improve performance.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and functional improvement, with up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, trends and innovation in the HR field (Chartered MCIPD status is preferable)
