The role

As our new Communications Specialist, you will play a central role in strengthening the profile and influence of WRAP across the European Union (EU). You will lead regional communications for our priority areas of food and textiles, while also supporting our work in plastics and Circular Living.

As a brand-new position within the Marketing and Communications team, you will have a unique opportunity to shape and define WRAP’s regional communications, bringing your own ideas and approach to how WRAP engages audiences across the EU. You will work closely with the Corporate Communications Team and the EU Executive Director to develop and deliver an effective regional communications plan that engages a diverse range of stakeholders, from FMCG brands and leading NGOs to policymakers and government bodies.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building a deep understanding of priority stakeholders across the region – in collaboration with the Global Partnership Team – identifying what motivates them and how to reach them.
  • Developing and delivering an effective regional communications plan that strengthens WRAP’s profile in the EU, with a strategic focus on food and textiles sustainability.
  • Identifying and securing relevant, high-profile regional media coverage, PR opportunities and speaking engagements (e.g. at conferences and events).
  • Creating high-quality, audience-focused content and materials – including case studies, social media posts, web content, newsletter articles, thought leadership pieces and business development collateral – to support stakeholder engagement, fundraising efforts and showcase WRAP’s work in the region.
  • Proactively identifying and building relationships with key regional organisations, influencers and networks to co-create content and expand WRAP’s reach.
  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional and cross-continental teams and coordinating with WRAP’s Corporate Communications Team to ensure alignment with the corporate strategy, global messaging and brand positioning.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a driven self-starter with strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and networking skills, who learns fast and is confident establishing a new regional role from the ground up.
  • Have proven experience in global communications, public relations, or marketing.
  • Be able to develop and implement effective communication strategies to influence public opinion, policymakers, and engage stakeholders – particularly businesses, NGOs, government, foundations, corporate partners and grassroots organisations.
  • Have experience creating engaging and innovative multi-channel content (for e.g. social media, web, newsletters, media), including use of multimedia formats.
  • Be highly attuned to regional trends, policy developments and media agendas, with the ability to respond quickly with relevant and impactful communications.

If you think you have what it takes but your experience looks different to what is advertised, please still apply. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of your age, race, gender, neurodiversity, ability, beliefs, sexuality, or personal preferences.

We want to help you be your best, so please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustments during the recruitment process.
